Avg speed – 17.6 kph
Max speed – 51.5 kph

Ulladulla to Shoalhaven Heads

Another hilly ride today but circumstances were on our side to make it a little bit easier. Our longest climb was out of Conjola and it was all under a 40kph speed restriction due to the road works to widen the road. Only two lanes of what looks like a five lane road were open so we rode from top to bottom well away from the traffic. The new hot mix surface made the climb very easy which was a welcome change to the rough and bumpy climbs of late.

We are now less than 200km from Sydney and the traffic volume is definitely increasing. Luckily for most of our time on the road today the road also got wider so we did not feel that venerable. However, as with our rides into the other capital cities we find ourselves tiring more quickly due to the constant state of alertness required to ride in these conditions. Unfortunately this also means that we find ourselves missing a lot of scenery, as we do not have the chance to switch off and take a good look around.

We had contemplated stopping the night in Nowra but after a brief coffee stop we decided to move onto Shoalhaven Heads.

Zoom into the map and use the 'Satellite' layer to see our new location.
