Stratford to Lakes Entrance

We woke to clear skies and no wind this morning, but by the time we were ready to leave Stratford the black clouds rolled in and it started to rain. By 10 o’clock it had stopped and the clouds lifted sufficiently to make us think that that was the end of the rain (there hadn’t been any forecast) so we set off.

Unfortunately the rain had a mind of its own and it began to rain for a good deal of the way into Bairnsdale. Enough for rain coats. However things fined up in the afternoon, and by the time we arrived in Lakes Entrance there were blue skies and we were able to appreciate the lovely views.

There were a lot of motorbikes on the road today, travelling home from the races at Philip Island. At least 2000 must have passed us, (there were 10,000 at 'The Island' over the weekend). Sitting in a bus shelter sheltering from the rain we felt we were at the races with the bikes passing us in small waves just as if they were on a circuit.

Zoom into the map and use the 'Satellite' layer to see our new location.

'Miszle' a mix of mist and drizzle. The fine water droplets settled on the grass.
