Kingston SE to Robe

Another short but hard windy ride to Robe this morning. We took it in turns to ride for 2.5km in front allowing the other to draft behind as we have found this a good way to cover the distance on such windy days.

Robe is a holiday town and was very busy compared to other places we have stopped along the way. Parking in the main street was limited and we were glad to be on our bikes. We stopped for a long lunch at the Vic Street Pizzeria and got talking to a number of the customers. Our bikes attracted a great deal of attention and it was amusing to watch people walk up to them and photograph different bits and pieces. A German couple who cycled with a trailer in Europe were most taken by our stands which they photographed from every angle – we suspect they will be copied or refined in the next few months.

We had a great campsite only 20 metres from the lake with excellent afternoon shade. We were so impressed with our lunchtime pizza we walked back into town for dinner at the same place.

A hard morning but overall an enjoyable afternoon and evening.

Zoom into the map and use the 'Satellite' layer to see our new location.

As this boat came into the wharf at Robe the town fire siren sounded so we think the boat was really on fire

Our bikes became a temporary tourist attraction in the main street of Robe

South Australia has banned plastic shopping bags, so are you organised to shop at Robe Foodland? Denise is!

Everything was flat when we reached Robe!
