Sarina, Mackay

We packed up and left Sarina Palms and went to Sarina’s main street to find some breakfast. Seeing it was Sunday, there was only one café open except for Subway. We opted for the café. It did not take us long to ride to Mackay. The countryside along the way is quite picturesque with mountains in the background and the road lined with cane fields and a pineapple farm.

Not feeling like camping, we decided to get an apartment for the night. As it got dark it started to rain quite heavily, so we were glad we were not in a tent.

The forecast from the Bureau of Meteorology for Mackay is:

Sunday evening: Mostly fine. Just a chance of a brief shower or two. Moderate S to SE winds.
Monday: Cloudy periods with a shower or two in the morning, becoming less frequent in the afternoon.
Moderate to fresh SE winds.
MIN    18     MAX    24 UV Alert - 9:20 am to 2:40 pm, UV Index predicted to reach 6 [High]
Outlook for Tuesday    ... Shower or two.

Lets see what tomorrow brings.

Zoom into the map and use the 'Satellite' layer to see our new location.

Sarina Plams Caravan Park. When we arrived last night the owner told us he "hated tents with a passion" as they damaged his grass. He required us to pitch the tent on a mix of grass and crusher dust, usually a spot where a caravan parks. Until now we didn't know our tent was wider than a caravan as it just fitted into the space. All that nice green grass and you cannot put a tent on it overnight!
