Cairns

We updated the website for the last 7 days this morning before cleaning and servicing the bikes in the afternoon.

We are using Schwalbe Marathon Plus tyres on both our bikes and Schwalbe Marathon Tyres on the trailers. Since we started using them over 12 months ago they have proven to be very puncture resistant, (touch wood), and today we found evidence of how worthwhile spending the extra money has been. Our service revealed pieces of glass deeply embedded in three tyres. The blue puncture resistant Smart Guard protection belts in each tyre had stopped all pieces of glass puncturing the tubes.  We swapped one tyre for our spare as we felt the hole was a little big once the glass had been removed. Given this discovery we will keep a more regular check on the tyres but we suspect we picked the glass up since we have been in Cairns. Like most cities there unfortunately seems to be a lot of glass in the on-road bicycle lanes.
