Bush camp to Burke and Wills Roadhouse

We slept very soundly and both ignored the 6.00am alarm, so we eventually got under way just before 10.00am.  Just up the road we came across a fantastic spectacle of termite mounds stretching to the horizon on both sides of the road. The winds were still with us but not as extreme as yesterday. As was the case yesterday the road was a mix of single and two-lane bitumen. We have begun to notice people filming or taking photos of us as they drive towards and past us. We are wondering if they are getting a heads up on our location over the CB radio. Perhaps we should get our CB handsets sent from home so we can listen to the chatter. One couple pulled up next to us as we were riding up a hill and chatted to us as we rode along. They had been in the Cairns to Karumba bike ride and were going home to NSW. We had to ask them to speed up as they were going too slow for us – at the time. Arrived at Burke and Wills Roadhouse at 4.45, put up the tent, did some washing, had showers, went to the roadhouse for dinner and went to bed.

Zoom into the map and use the 'Satellite' layer to see our new location.
